The Center for Healthy Minds does research on mental well-being — what it means for different people and ways to cultivate it. You will work with the CHM Research Support Core, a team that provides the technical foundation for our work.
- Learn the basics of REDCap, a web application that is used for securely managing and storing surveys and databases.
- Brainstorm ideas and collaboratively prepare documentation on using REDCap specific to our study site. This documentation will include instructions and helpful tips for setting up, maintaining, and analyzing results from a study.
- Create a test/example study in REDCap.
- Collect data for the test study surveys.
- Analyze the data collected using existing scripts.
- Opportunity to present these results to the group.
- Students will learn how to use REDCap by building their own survey, administering the survey and collecting data.
- Students will have the opportunity to use the existing programming language scripts to analyze the data that they have collected.
- Students are also encouraged to write their own code to analyze the data.
- Students will learn how to write effective documentation about using this web application and utilizing its features for an audience with a range of technical skill.
- Students will have the opportunity to present their experience and results from the analysis to the team.
