UW CIPE

UW CIPE is a University Center supported by the UW Provost Office, and the Deans of the four health sciences schools – School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy and School of Veterinary Medicine. The UW CIPE mission is to work collaboratively locally, nationally and globally to champion, integrate, and advance Interprofessional Practice and Education (IPE) to achieve the Quintuple Aim: better population health, better patient care, better value, better provider work experience, and better health equityThis LEAP host site will expose you to different healthcare professions such as Genetic Counseling, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Public Health, Social Work, and Veterinary Medicine, and how these disciplines work together to meet the needs of patients, their families, and the population. Students will also learn about the Healthy Aging Initiative (HAI) which focuses on educating interprofessional students about cognitive health and dementia through the lifespan while integrating core competencies of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC).

  • Demonstrate professional behaviors while participating in all experiences. 
  • Contribute to the modification of interprofessional modules taught to health and social science students. 
  • Experience how clinical simulation lends to teaching health professional students.  
  • Assist in laboratory courses as needed.  
  • Work alongside members of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2026 and 2027 in a classroom setting. 
  • Work alongside members of the UW Madison Center for Pre-Health Advising.  
  • Students will learn how to effectively communicate with a broad cross-section of faculty and staff members and university partners affiliated with the UW-Madison health professional programs. 
  • Students may contribute to the creation of education materials for health professional students.
