MAKING UW-MADISON YOUR HOME

In this workshop we’ll discuss homesickness and how it can impact your experience at UW-Madison, as well as explore strategies for overcoming those feelings and making UW-Madison your home! As part of the workshop, we’ll create our own BuckyLists that will help you get to know the campus and community.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: GIVING AND RECEIVING

Constructive criticism, or feedback, can be an incredibly valuable source of information from which you can grow as a professional. However, the skill of giving (and receiving!) feedback can be difficult to master. In this workshop we’ll discuss the value of feedback, distinguish constructive criticism from other forms of critique and explore how to effectively provide, receive, and even reject feedback.

EXPLORING STRUGGLES AND FINDING SUCCESS IN THE VIRTUAL CLASSROOM

2020 has been a year unlike any other. As we transition to a virtual environment for the remainder of the semester, let Success Services help you recognize the struggles of remote learning and give you strategies to find success in the virtual classroom. We’ll discuss how and why virtual learning is so difficult, explore resources that will help you combat barriers in achieving academic growth and that help you continue to grow outside of the classroom, and recognize the value of a virtual workspace.

THE BALANCING ACT

Building on our previous workshops, Mind Your Stress and Adaptability in Uncertain Times, The Balancing Act will discuss the time management and organizational skills necessary to creating a balance between school, work, and life. We’ll discuss how useful abiding by a schedule can be, share strategies for effective time management, and encourage you to consider ways in which you can better nurture relationships within and beyond the classroom.

Stress can show up at different times and to different degrees. Join us for a workshop to discover ways to recognize and identify your stress and its triggers.  We will discuss resources and ways to reduce your stress in the short-term and in the long-term.
