Expected Responsibilities
Hey Mentors! Thank you for being part of our program, we really appreciate your time and efforts!
We here at the Success Services want to let you know that we are here to help and guide you as you embark this amazing journey of being a paid mentor. But, being a paid mentor comes with some added responsibilities.
Here’s a quick overview of the expected responsibilities of a paid mentor:
- Support 5-10 mentees. You will be matched with your mentees via the Mentor Collective dashboard so keep an eye on it
- Log conversations with your mentees in the Mentor Collective dashboard. We recommend an estimate of 1 hour with each mentee per month
- Share important insight flags regarding your mentee
- Share feedback with Mentor Collective and UW Madison
"Paws for a Pause" with Therapy Dogs and Boba!
Join us for a fur-tastic study sesh that's all about embracing the joy of four-legged friends and treating yourself to some boba bliss. The therapy dogs are here to sprinkle some tail-wagging magic on your study break, and we've got your favorite Le Ce’s boba to sweeten the deal.
Watch out for emails from the Financial Aid Office on more details and how to RSVP for the Event 🚀

How to claim your Recognition Award?
During your onboarding we had mentioned that you have the potential to get a Recognition Award which we call a Paid Mentor Bonus.
Here’s how
To claim the $50 bonus for the SPRING semester, you can choose to complete any 1 out of these 2 options APART from your expected mentor responsibilities :
- Nominate AT LEAST TWO Mentees to become Mentors for the 2024-2025 year. Fill out this google form to do so
OR - Fill out the OSFA student stories survey
In order to receive the spring bonus, one of the two requirements above must be submitted by Thursday, April 11th 2024 by 4:00 PM. Any survey answers or mentee nominations submitted after this deadline will not be considered for a bonus, so it is important that you remember to submit on time!
Who Makes A Good Mentor?
As paid mentors we trust your judgement on who you think will make a good mentor for the next academic year. But in order for you to make a decision you may use the following pointers:
1. Someone who you think is a good listener. Effective communication is crucial in mentoring. A good mentor actively listens to the mentee's concerns, questions, and goals, fostering open and honest dialogue.
2. A good mentor is approachable and creates a comfortable environment for the mentee to seek guidance without fear of judgment. Being open to discussions encourages a positive mentor-mentee relationship.
3. Someone who you believe can encourage and motivate incoming students to overcome their fears and obstacles.
